It's that moment, that realization that you're not where you'd like to be, not in the place that you wish you could have been by now. If I could just get there, if only I could be like that I'll be happy.
But then you realize... That the journey has only begun. It's not about what you can attain, what you can accomplish in this life. Everything is meaningless, everything under the sun is going to waste away. The house you have, the way you look, the money you save. Everything will deteriorate when you pass from this life. So where is the hope? Where is the purpose?
Jesus. Plain and simple.... Jesus.
It's that eternal focus, knowing that our lives, are whole being were made to worship. Whether you choose to worship God or the things of this world this is what we are. You cannot deny this truth.
Day in and day out we wake up go to work, come home eat, and sleep again. To what, do it all over again the next day. It's a constant cycle of going through the motions. Just waiting till that day is over so you can just barely get through the week. Living for the weekend. I'm sick and tired of this attitude I have built. Counting down the hours till I can leave to go somewhere else more comfortable where I don't face any real need to live out what I believe. It's time to give life some REAL purpose.
Everything you have, that you are was made for the creator of the universe. The one who knew you before you were knit in your mothers womb, before anyone, he loved you. He died for you. Was tortured for you. Was rejected for you. So how you could ignore him? That you could push him aside like it wasn't enough? I'll be honest, I do it all the time. I get caught up in the things that I can "see". Father, forgive me.
So you have this knowledge of your purpose, you've grasped it but do you truly understand it? There is a difference. Understanding translates into action. So are you living in the confidence that you are IN CHRIST? Not in the world but in the one that gave everything for you? The one that gives hope, life and meaning? That no matter what you do, you cannot be separated from if you believe? Nothing cannot separate you!!! Nothing!! ( Romans 8:38-39)
So what does this look like in my life right now? In this very moment sitting on my carpet? Being a girl who is now married, working with unbelievers, living in a different city that desperately needs the gospel? Just like anyone in any situation... it needs to look like compassion, faithfulness, joy, perseverance, kindness, gentleness, grace, understanding of scripture, it needs to look like Jesus. I can't give you a complete specific answer to all the things in order you need to do to get that spiritual high if that's what you're looking for. God works in different ways in different people's lives. But he does want you to know Him. He wants you to study him in His word, to talk to Him, to walk with Him everyday.

That is so well written Bethany! I needed to hear that, I find myself in that struggle constantly and it's so hard to pull yourself out of the routine and just say "No, I was made for so much more than this!" Because literally, everything we try to work for ourselves is just going to fade away. It's only in Him and serving Him that we truly find our purpose! God bless you!
