This past weekend me and Luke made the treck out to Millar College of the Bible to visit with friends at the basketball alumni tournament. We did not actually participate in the tournament. Luke would have done well playing but basketball has never been my forte. Haha. It was so wonderful being able to see old friends from our years at Millar and also connect with some people I hadn't really talked to when I was there. It was so neat to see how God is working in that place! I realized how important it is to keep in touch with those that we care about. It's so hard when your friends don't live in the same area as you. I wish they just lived across the hall like they used to; I could just pop into their room and say hi, instead of driving hours to see them. But, those reunions are so sweet when you do get see each other! We came home from Millar being so thankful for our basement suite and our puppy. It's so nice to call a place home and to be able to go back together...
Here's a small update on what has been going on in me and Luke's life in the past 5 months.. In August we adopted a rescue puppy from the Regina's Humane Society. Her name is Aspen and is such a bundle of joy. She is a wire haired fox terrier crossed with a border collie so she naturally has too much energy to contain in her medium body and loves anything that moves. She is absolutely fearless and will befriend anyone. We have really come to enjoy her company and presence around the house. She is now 6 months and continues to grow! She's my furry baby. Luke had started a new job with Sasktel International in October organizing fiber-optic cabling communications for Regina and the surrounding cities. I don't really know exactly what that looks like but I know that there are quite a few processes to complete a certain job. He enjoys working in an office much more then outside as he had done last winter which was just plain cold. It's different then plumbin...
This is part of an article that I found on a blog and I thought it has a lot of truth to it. I also felt alone uncertain if this was normal.. Know that you are not alone.  What have we done? Are we going to make it? Why is this so hard? All questions I asked myself many times during my first year of marriage. We were arguing. We were fighting. It was really hard. And every day I thought something was wrong. I thought we had a bad marriage. Nobody warned me about the first year. But take this as a warning…the first year of marriage is difficult. If you are in the first year of marriage and thinking about giving up…congratulations. You are now…married! But let me encourage you…do not give up. Everyone struggles. You are not unique. Persevere. There are better days coming. Your marriage will get better. Do not walk out. If you walk out now you disqualify yourself (and your spouse) from years of joy. Stick with it.
Hello Dear Readers, The past six months.. wow where have they gone? As we grow a bit older everyday it seems that time flies faster. I have started a new position as League Administrator at Regina Soccer which I am loving. More responsibility and pressure, but I like the challenge. I'm learning so much and really enjoying it! Luke has started a new job selling home water filtration systems which he is really liking. He loves talking with all the different people he comes across. He's even made some sales. :) In June we took a trip to BC for my dear cousin Hannah's wedding which was spectacular. We also had the chase to go to the Island for a couple of days which I really enjoyed. Going to the place that I so dearly wish to move back to some day. God is on the move in my life that is for sure. I've been going through the motions for the past while though. Really not having that passionate authentic relationship with Jesus that I once had. I long for that again ...
There it is. .another lull in my posts. haha It seems when things are going well that I post less. So take it as a good sign. Life seems to just slip by me these days. A week goes by and I don't even remember what happened. Not sure if that's a good thing but in reality I have nothing to write about. I've become so routine based that days are meshing together. I have nothing to complain about. MY relationship with Luke and the love I have for him grows stronger everyday and my relationships with friends and family are something I'm so thankful for. Praying for God to shake me up a bit. Knock me on my butt so I'll come running to him again. This routine is also made me take some steps back from relying on God...
I was kind of inspired for this post by a girl who wrote about her journey with mental illness. Yes, I know for sure that I have also been exposed to the truth that I have also struggled with it. There have been days where I feel absolutely hopeless, losing interest in the things I once loved. Just utterly depressed and wanting to escape my life. I had no real reasons to feel this way.. I just did. I know now that I should have gone to the doctor about this.. but instead I decided to pray. I decided to talk about it with my husband and now with some close friends. It's more common then we think. As you may have been journeying with my through my blog; I have noticed the sense of hopelessness in my past posts. It was so real and so convincing that my life sucked. So much that inside I felt like I couldn't take it any more. Again, I decided to pray; to be in community, sharing the struggles and anxieties that I still wrestle with has also helped my mind recover. It's go...
